Longship

Several centuries ago, northern shipbuilders developed a new technique of hullbuilding in which the planks of the hull overlapped each other. This resulted in the longship, a design which is found in abundance on the northern seas. They are seaworthy, lightweight, easy to sail, and quick to accelerate and turn. With their shallow draft they can navigate rivers and coastal waters with ease, though they have trouble in rough seas. In battle, longships try to bring their large crews into boarding action as soon as possible, which is not a hard task thanks to their many oars.
