Orondir

Orondir, Lord of Baranionath, came to the headship of his house at nineteen, when his father Baranor was slain upon the eastern shore of Anduin in a sortie against Ithilien orc-bands. Now two and twenty, he rules the coastal fastness of his fathers at Edhellond in southern Belfalas, and the weight of an ancient name lies heavy upon young shoulders. He bears Calanaith, his father's blade, recovered with grim cost from the field where Baranor fell, and the swan-prowed ships of his haven answer to his horn. In the gathering quarrel he keeps faith with Lord Denethor, holding that vigilance, not hope, is the bulwark of these dark years.
