Lodya
The lodya draws two shipbuilding traditions: that of the Nords who sailed their longships to trade and raid up Sturgian rivers, and that of the great galleys that sailed from imperial ports on Lake Laconis, whose glory the Sturgian princes wished to surpass. In its basic lines it resembles a sleek shallow-drafted river-craft, with ample oar-power to row against the wind or current, but is much larger. Sturgians however often arm it for battle like a dromon, packing its well-protected decks with archers and sometimes even mounting a ram.
